The Academy’s Midsummer Night Lecture 2017
Friday, July 14, the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture organizes the Midsummer Night Lecture, an annual lecture on a current topic in architecture, urbanisme or landscape architecture. This year’s speaker is artist and architect Sarah van Sonsbeeck.
Sarah studied architecture at TU Delft (MA) and did a bachelor of visual arts at Gerrit Rietveld Academy. In her work, she often plays with space, something that arises from her background as an architect. Sound, or even the lack of sound, is also often part of her work. In times where sound is constantly surrounding us, Sarah stresses the importance of silence. At present, her work is to be seen in a solo exhibition in the Old Church in Amsterdam.
Party
The lecture also marks the end of the academic year. After the lecture, around 22.ooh, the party will start.
Time and location
The lecture starts at 21h00 at the Academy of Architecture, Waterlooplein 211-213 in Amsterdam. Reservations are not possible, admission is free. Language is English.
