Midsummer Night Lecture 2018 | Oliver Wainwright
On Friday 13 July, the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture will be organising the Midsummer Night Lecture, an annual lecture for teachers, students and employees on a current topic in architecture, urbanism or landscape architecture. This year the lecture will be by journalist Oliver Wainwright of The Guardian.
The lecture will be delivered by Oliver Wainwright, the Guardian’s architecture and design critic. Before moving into journalism, he trained to be an architect and worked in strategic planning at the Architecture and Urbanism Unit of the Greater London Authority and at a number of architecture practices, including OMA in Rotterdam and Muf in London. He is a regular visiting critic and lecturer at a number of architecture schools internationally. In his lecture, titled ‘Form Follows Finance’, Oliver speaks about how the forces of global capital are shaping our cities.
Date and venue
Friday 13 July, 2018. The lecture will start at 21.00. Waterlooplein 211-213, Amsterdam. The lecture will be in English. After the lecture, there will be a student party from 22.00 until 03.00. Tickets for the party are 10 euros each (including 2 drinks) and available at the door from 20.30.
